At MIHS, there has been a recent surge of students obtaining Bs. Consequently, some parents are suing the institution for intentional infliction of emotional distress, as perfect grades are a popular goal for many at the school.
“When I saw that B, all the joy, hope and college dreams I had went down the drain,” student Leremy Leung said. “I don’t think it’s possible that I – or my GPA – can recover from this. How will I ever experience happiness again?”
Additionally, some students have become increasingly frustrated over the difficulty of content.
“I plugged those questions into three different AIs and it didn’t work,” an anonymous student complained. “I think I might just die from all these assignments! I’m only a high schooler, you know!”
These types of reactions have prompted parents to take legal action, as many downcast students have been displaying noticeable symptoms of persistent sadness, loss of interest and difficulty concentrating.
“The mental health of our children is very serious and important. Just yesterday, my daughter came home in tears and didn’t attend her Underwater Basket Weaving Club meeting, so I know something is very wrong,” a mom filing a lawsuit said. “We demand compensation for this infliction of severe emotional harm!”
However, other students have a different perspective about their grade, voicing no concern at all.
“My grades don’t define who I am,” student Yeffrey Yay said, quoting a phrase said by his 6th grade Language Arts teacher. “I genuinely don’t know why so many people are freaking out about this.”
