Last Thursday, the MIHS track team celebrated their beloved departing seniors with gifts and flowers for their families.
The team made a tunnel holding posters for the seniors to run down in celebration of their final year full of dedication, leadership and the memories they have collected along the way.
The meet was loud with cheering from the stands and on the field, ending with a huge laugh with the traditional “anything but a baton” relay, featuring a ham, fish and a shopping cart, with a surprise participation from the coaches.
The meet was overall a success with the women’s team beating Skyline 86 to 34, but sadly a disappointing loss on the boys’ side, 108 to 37.
Full of personal bests from both teams, but many on Mercer Island’s team achieved and exceeded their times.
Senior night concludes the 2026 season’s last home meet, with their last official season meet on Thursday, the 7th, against Woodinville at Woodinville. Go support the team for a strong end to their season.
