New Staff Ready to Embrace MIHS

As the 2019-2020 school year rolls around, Editors-in-Chief Ellie Gottesman and Annie Poole ask new MIHS staff members what they are looking forward to.

Alida Mendes | robotics teacher

“This is my first year teaching. I am coming from industry and so I am really excited to be in the classroom and work with students. It’s going to be a learning experience for me and I am really excited about creating a project-based classroom with hands-on learning.”

Ariel Schachter | R&R counselor

“I am so excited to be joining the community here and to be helping students achieve academic success and also manage stress.”

Connor Coombs | math teacher

“I am really excited to meet all of my students and get involved in the Mercer Island community.”

“I am excited to meet the students and try new things in my teaching.”

Brook Bowers | science teacher

“I am excited about meeting my new students and I am excited about being back in the MIHS science department. I decided to come back because the students strive for achievement here and the community is very supportive.”
