The Fine Arts Showcase is an annual fundraiser that showcases artworks displayed by students in visual art classes at all MISD schools. This event takes place at Mercer Island High School.
Both the MI Fine Arts Advisory Council and the School District are sponsoring this event. It has benefited K-12 arts programs and has been a community tradition for more than 40 years.
“It’s [an] important [event] because it’s all the students in [the] program and outside of it,” art teacher Jessica Shideler said. “It represents and gives them a place where they can show their individuality and have the opportunity to express their student voice.”
The event features many different forms of student art, including ceramics, graphic design, metal jewelry, and more.
All K-12 student artwork will be displayed in the main common areas and hallways for visitors to view. The school invited staff and students to attend the event, which took place Tuesday, April 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 2, from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
