Monday Oct. 14, the MIHS Girls Varsity Volleyball team persevered and won against Bothell High School, winning the match 3-1.

“We’ve definitely had a winning streak,” junior Aikum Bains said. “We’re definitely on an upward trajectory, and heading into this three-game week, we’re really pumped and excited.”

Though the crowd was not big, the team maintained high energy and optimism throughout the game. The Islanders cruised through the first two sets with ease, winning 25-19 and 25-12.

“Going in, we felt really good about it and we won the first two sets pretty handily,” Bains said.

However, Bothell made a comeback in the third set. Though the set was close, the Cougars pulled out a victory of 25-19.

“In the third and fourth sets, we kinda got a little ahead of ourselves,” Bains said. “Next time we will be very focused throughout the whole match and end it early on.”

In the final set, the Islanders regained themselves and fought hard to win the set 25-21.

“Being with a group of girls together and supporting each other and leaning on each other is what volleyball fun”, said Bains

In their three-game week, the girls volleyball team starts off strong with this win. Be there to support them in their next game against Sammamish on Oct. 21!
